Archive for February, 2005I can’t resist… From an email I recently received, whose subject line was “while searching for info on streaming video…” comes one of those annoying Flash adverts that flickers at the top of the screen when really you wish you could look at just the main content of the webpage you are visiting: Ah yes, a Valentine’s in-joke. Heh. ![]() “The good people of the world are washing their cars They drive their shiny Datsuns and Buicks – Sheryl Crowe The car wash. Ah, yes. The place where, this time of year, the folks in the Midwest are washing off the deadly salt and in these parts, they wash the mudd off their cars. I have found it to be a haven for finding those damn magnets . I have only found two, so far, before I noticed a pattern, but it doesn’t take me long to recognize a pattern gosh darn it. The first time, I place the “God Bless the USA” magnet on Shy Girl’s truck on a Sunday. She called me on that next Wednesday, mortified, but thankfully not upset. I arrived home from work to find the magnet hanging on my door, though just a touch modified. ![]() So I found another one today. Today, it was also a red, white and blue one, but said something different, I can’t remember what, they all look the same. Shy Girl is currently in NYC, and my bet is that she is not looking in on me here, so it is safe to say that yes, I dropped it off on her truck tonight. We’ll see how long it takes for her to notice upon her return. And I cannot wait to see her modifications to this one. A while ago, I asked y’all to name the painting, and I liked The 13th Squirrel’s sugestion best - Acheron @ Sunrise - but wasn’t comfortable with the fact that there can be no sunrise over Acheron. The river is identified with the Epirus river in Greece that flows underground in several places, and because of that I propose the title Epirus Sunrise. Not quite the same ring. Eh, I’ll think on it some more. Meanwhile, I wish I had a digital camera, as the newest painting will not fit on the scanner. So here is a detail of it. The original is 12″ x 16″ and features an earlier painting bolted to the canvas, nails, rope (which I may burn off), and acrylics. It’s called “Building Something Up”, from a John Dendy song title with the same name. The lyric is “Building something up is better than/tearing something down/I do believe in love/and that’s why I don’t need you around.” Meanwhile, I have bolted supports into the top of my desk so that the laptop lid does not fall. The hinges go for around $95 on eBay, and I don’t have a stray $95 right now. So I paid $5 at Ace Hardware for the parts I needed and have a stationary laptop now. Which is why I did not upload a Radio Dystopia setlist, because I won’t be able to do my usual downloads show. Çest lá vie. But, if you plan on listenig, you can email your requests. Remember, the show’s on tonight at 10 PM MST ![]() Listen to me grit my teeth and try not to yell and break shit. The update is, I am looking for parts. Ugh. |
