Flickr recently announced the introduction of Stats for their Pro users. Pretty sweet.

To view them, when logged into your Pro Flickr account, go YOU –> YOUR STATS. Here you will see displayed the top ten photo views for the previous day, and of all time. A table displaying the photo thumbnails also displays how many views each photo received, how many times each was favorited and commented upon, and, my favorite feature, a breakdown of where your traffic originated.

Traffic Origination on Flickr

The “Other Sites” are further broken down as shown below.

Where’d The Traffic Come From?

Lastly, There is a breakdown of all photos you have uploaded. I’ll let the screenshot do the talking here.

Photo Breakdown

I activated mine a while ago, but haven’t had the chance to look at my stats until tonight. The results were interesting, though not too surprising considering the title (and subject) of the photo. (and not that good of a photo) named Hot Upskirt Bike Action has had the most views. It’s tagged with:

upskirt
tourdefat
missoula
montana
bike
newbelgium

When viewing the photo as I wrote this post, I realized that one can also view one’s stats about an individual photo only without having to navigate to the Stats page. There is a “Stats” link on the main page for the photo being viewed, located under the ADDITIONAL INFORMATION heading on the right, below the tags. The photo in question was taken at the annual New Belgium Tour de Fat, held in Missoula and other parts of the NorthWest. I wrote about the Tour de Fat shortly after it happened, and it was a lot of fun.

Hot Upskirt Bike Action

Right. Not that great of a photo, eh? But let’s have a look at the stats for this particular image. It has the most views of any image I’ve posted to Flickr, including full blown nudes.

Hot Upskirt Bike Action Stats

Wow.

So, the lesson here is: name your photos (or other artwork) well. Lesson #2: sex sells, and you don’t need any nudity at all.

Cool. The folks over at Big Sky Documentary Film Festival got ahold of me earlier this summer to ask if it was cool if they used a photo I took (left) for their 2008 promo materials. I just noticed that they’re using it on their site, too. I get no cash for it, but I love that they’re using it. Go have a look at the original, uncropped photo.

Seems like some of my other photos are getting some notice as well. The folks over at Schmap sent me a message saying that two of my photos have been shortlisted for inclusion in the Minneapolis shmapplet. From the Schmap site: Schmap is a leading publisher of digital travel guides for 200 destinations throughout the United States, Europe, Canada, Australia and New Zealand. The innovative technology behind Schmap Guides is also used by clients, partners and bloggers to power schmapplets – a range of fully customizable map mashups and map widgets. Founded in 2004, Schmap is privately owned and based in Carrboro, North Carolina. Interesting concept, eh? The two photos are below.

untitled114, originally uploaded by love not fear.

Jess and I have known one another for almost 10 years, and have drifted in and out of one another’s lives over time. We had talked about doing a nude photo shoot for a while, and we finally accomplished that in Santa Cruz, CA, back in 2003. These are some highlights. All photos were taken with a 6MP medium format Hasselblad film camera with a digital back. Most are un-edited. Full set here.

[update] In May of 2006, I was completing a great project using images taken during this photoshoot.  When I displayed one of the finished pieces, I caused a huge controversy at Home Resource’s annual Spontaneous Construction fundraiser.  Read about all of the fun here.

Good news indeed. And just in time for my Tuesday photoset.

I’ve been a big ball of stress lately. My dayjob won’t pay us on time, and I’m still sick from having quit smoking. (It’s been a week — the longest I’ve gone in a while). I’ve been trying to spread smiles throughout town by putting stickers up at random. It’s fun to see, days later, which ones have survived.*Spent tonight catching up on paperwork and “to-do” Internet stuff. Was delighted to see that the message is spreading. Check out the green sticky towards the middle of the monitor.

(You can post a sticky too, if you want).

*Wish the morons over at Mack Camera could get their shit together. They’ve had my digicam in the shop for over a month. Fighting with them now, as they say it is not covered under warranty. Would love to start documenting my sticker installations and posting them on Flickr, as I started to when I did my first stencil project in town (with spray-chalk!)

Lets get something straight. Papyrus is not an acceptable font anymore than Comic Sans is. Got it? I don’t want to have to say it again.
